Tabling Events

A tabling event is an event registered by a student organization during set hours, 11 am to 2 pm, Monday through Friday. Organizations and campus departments may reserve a table provided by the Center for Student Involvement. There are five tables available for organizations to utilize and one table will be made available for a campus department to host.

Guidelines for Tabling

In an effort to provide all organizations equal opportunity with table hours we have created new guidelines and expanded upon some previous guidelines. Below are the guidelines specific to student organizations hosting tabling events:

  • Only students from the University of Dayton who are members of the organization will be hosting the tabling event. Organizations with national or regional affiliations may not have representatives from those organizations at their table.
  • The Center for Student Involvement requires that any materials being handed out be shared with our office prior to event approval. Please email any requested copies of the information to studentorgs@udayton.edu or bring physical copies to KU 241 for review. The materials being handed out must be in compliance with university policy and guidelines.
  • Use of amplified sound and live music is prohibited during indoor tabling. If using amplified sound or live music outdoors, the volume must be kept at a level so as not to be audible within Kennedy Union. Use of amplified sound is prohibited when classes are in session and can only be used during periods between classes, this includes, but is not limited to speakers, megaphones, and phones playing music.
  • Table hosts must stay within 2-3 ft of their table to allow for pedestrian traffic on campus walkways. Pop-up tents are permissible (secure with weights, but do not stake into the ground), but hosts must still stay within 2-3 ft of their table.
  • Fundraising events with food may request two tables and a maximum of six students hosting those tables at a time.
  • Organizations must remain respectful of other organizations’ tabling events. Harassment, interference, or any other form of disrespect will not be tolerated.

The above guidelines are specific for tabling events, but the other event guidelines listed throughout this resource guide also apply to these events.
