Rovers

Doris

The second rover developed by UDMRT, Doris, expanded on the successes of Precision and reimagined it's failures. The following improvements were made:

  • New drivetrain using REV Robotics BLDCs
  • Redesigned chassis and suspension to save weight
  • Upgraded communications system, boosting range by >50%
  • Robust camera system with duel HD-IR cameras installed
  • Functioning robotic arm to interface with objects and control panels

Among other smaller changes, Doris expanded our operators' capabilities to explore and interact remotely with the world around them, and is a blueprint for development soon to come.

Precision

The first rover developed by UDMRT, Precision, was capable of traversing difficult terrain, surveying the landscape, and relaying information back to the operators such as GPS coordinates and system health. Precision was built with the primary goal of movement in mind. Due to this, sacrifices had to be made, and a functioning arm was never realized. Nevertheless, Precision exceeded expectations.
