Platform

Make sure students' voices are heard by the administration when they are implementing policies that could hurt the interests of students
Work with campus safety to address safety concerns among students, such as sexual assaults and robberies
Advocate for fairness among all students with all different backgrounds, views, beliefs, etc.
Combat the "cancel culture" momentum on campus as I believe everyone should be able to express themselves without fear of punishment or judgement
Advocate to improve the AVAITE system, especially solving the problem that students with jobs or other commitments are unable to attend PATH- eligible events
Work to make PATH-eligible events more non-partisan and/or showing both sides equally

"No need to rant, just vote for Grant!"

There's no need to rant! As Sophomore Representative, I want to minimize students' stress as much as possible and act as a liaison for whatever issues they may come across during the school year, whether big or small. Undoubtedly, as the months go by, most will experience some anxiety or work under pressure. Maybe you're feeling down after a breakup and need someone to talk to. Maybe you just need a place to study. As Sophomore Representative, I plan to forcefully advocate for the wide variety of resources UD has to offer students, no matter what the situation.

"Battle for the community."

I am Joseph Maxfield, and I am a rising sophomore from Kansas City. One of the things I believe in passionately is the power of a strong and organized community. I come from a high school that inspired in me a great sense of community. When I left high school, I thought I’d never belong to a greater community in my life. That was, until I arrived at the University of Dayton. One of my regrets from high school is never getting involved in a way that could further the community for future students. I hope not to make the same mistake here as I strive to get involved. I believe I'll bring a lot to the Student Government Association. Admittedly, when I walk around this campus and through the student neighborhood, I sometimes find myself wondering what it is that could possibly make this university better. However, I do have some proposals in my head. I have thoughts and ideas on events the student government could put on in the student neighborhood, and input on the way things could be run. I believe my greatest strengths are that I am a kind, fair, and easy person to reason with, I always have an ear to lend to a fellow student and friend, and I always battle. If elected, I will fight hard for all my fellow peers and the student body. Roll Flyers!

"If You Want A Promise, Trust In Ben Thomas"

The 2020-2021 term as a Class Representative was all about growth. It opened an opportunity and race to run. Our classes race of college is far from over. A year under of growing with constituents, administration, and bylaws, I promise you one thing now: I am ready to get back to work. Working right away with a direction and goal of putting your words back into action, so we can live gUD everyday as a class. Working so our class can experience the Flyer spirit, have their voice heard and acted on, and most importantly to make you love this place a little better than when you started. I'm re-entering the race, ready to work, and I will finish it with you guys if you decide to run it with me.
