Students are the heart of the University of Dayton. As such, I believe every student's voice deserves to be heard and understood. I'm running for Sophomore Class Representative, so I can serve the student body and help bridge the gap between our sophomore class and the administration. I will advocate for underrepresented voices and create an inclusive environment welcome to growth and improvement. Additionally, I hope to connect the students with administration in a way that facilitates profound respect and meaningful change.
My platform promotes Christian values, revolving around compassion for each other, integrity in my actions, and humility in leadership. I am committed to bringing students into productive conversation with administration, and creating a space that encourages everyone to speak up, and speak out. During my term, I will raise awareness of Student Government's involvement on campus, and become a bridge that advocates for the people. Student Government should not be intimidating, rather, it should be inviting. Inviting for students to make suggestions, raise concerns, and advocate for real and visible change.
At present, I serve in School Outreach for the Ohio Innocence Project UD Chapter (OIP-U). I have experience raising awareness, and building support for a valuable cause. I have also worked on newsletters and represented the OIP at Up the Orgs, developing my communication and public speaking skills. In addition, my campus job as a student ambassador has provided me current insight into UD's latest programs and enhancements. This will help me engage in conversations regarding UD's facilities and current plans to keep fellow students informed. Finally, my participation in Model United Nations as Undersecretariat of Internal Affairs has shaped my ability to navigate controversial topics in a respectful manner. I've also worked as a team and individually for a common cause, building interpersonal and collaborative skills.
I absolutely love my flyer family, and am deeply involved on campus! I'm often seen with campus ministry, singing on the worship team for Chi Alpha or attending Cru Bible Study every Monday. I also had the privilege of serving as a leader for the Callings Program, and am a part of the Chaminade Scholars program. And, I was in the UleaD first-year cohort, learning leadership and professional development skills, while creating lasting friendships. I'm so excited to serve our communUD, and I can't wait to get more involved! Go Flyers!!
I am running for SGA because I would love to have a voice in what happens on our campus and help make a good impact on the University of Dayton. I also want to become more involved with my fellow students and hear their ideas, concerns, and experiences. In high school, I served as the president of my student council, and I really enjoyed having an important role where I could help others, represent my classmates, and accomplish meaningful things. I would love the opportunity to bring that same passion for leadership and service to SGA at the University of Dayton. Even just as a representative I feel it will help me learn a lot and help me grow as a student and person.
My platform is focused on making sure the students at UD feel heard, connected on campus, and involved. I want everyone to feel like they have a say and that their voice matters. I hope to create an open environment for students to share their ideas, concerns, and suggestions for the university. Another goal of mine is to encourage more students to voice their opinions and show them that their voices matter and are important. I want to be a representative who is approachable and someone students know they can talk to about any concerns they have or ideas about what we can change to make UD better. I hope to work with other SGA members to find good solutions and follow through on the issues that matter most to our campus. Ultimately, I hope to help create positive changes at UD and make our campus an even better community for students.
I would say two experiences that will help me be successful in this role are my time as student body president at my high school and being a captain on two varsity sports teams. As president, I had the opportunity to represent my class and help make changes happen, but I also worked to set things up for future classes. This experience taught me how important it is to listen to others and make sure things run effectively and efficiently. Being a captain taught me a lot about leadership and teamwork. Since I am running for a representative role, it will be important that I can work well with others, listen to what everyone has to say, and consider different ideas and perspectives. I believe these experiences have given me the leadership, communication, and teamwork skills that will help me work well with other SGA members and effectively represent the student body.

I want to use my voice and shared experiences to advocate for my peers. I believe its my responsibility to do everything I can to improve the lives and university experience for those around me. With my current path of study having nothing to do with politics, this is not just a career step for me. I am running for this position in SGA due to my desire to produce meaningful change.
In keeping with my platform from last year, I am again running on Quality of Life for UD Students. From expanding availability of resources, disseminating knowledge of programs, and improving the college experience I remain committed to my peers. Having established a foundation inside SGA and with inner knowledge to its workings, I hope this year to dive deeper into comprehensive solutions to problems plaguing UD students in every department and field.
Last year I served a full term as a First-Year Class Representative in which I learned SGAs function, its successes and its shortcomings. This experience allows me to dive straight into problem solving if I were to return to the role. Being a Chemical Engineering major, I can adequately represent a large portion of students who are not often present in political scenes. Furthermore I love to collaborate on projects and engage personally with people, making calls and meetings with Dayton faculty and students second nature.
UD Model United Nations
I am running for Sophomore Class Representative because I want to continue being a voice and advocate for every member of the Class of 2029. I believe representation is about more than speaking for people; it is about listening to them, understanding experiences different from your own, and making sure their voices are brought into the rooms where decisions are being made. Advocacy and service are deeply important to me because I have seen how much it matters to have someone willing to listen, care, and speak up when something needs to change. When I ran for freshman class representative last year, I came to UD from out of state, knowing very few people, and wanted to help create a class community where no one felt like they had to navigate college or advocate for themselves alone. After having the privilege of representing our class for the past year, I am even more passionate about that goal. I want every member of the Class of 2029, whether we are close friends or have never met, to know they have someone that they can come to with a concern, question, or idea and trust that I will take it seriously. I am running because I care deeply about our class and the University of Dayton community as a whole, and I want to continue listening, showing up, and using my position to make sure our voices are heard.
My platform this year is centered around three commitments: Listen. Advocate. Act. After a year of representing the Class of 2029 in SGA, I have learned that some of the most important issues students face at UD are not always solved by creating something new. Sometimes, the resources or people who can help already exist, but students do not know where to find them, who to ask, or how to make their concerns heard. Listen: I want to be a representative for our entire class, not just the people I already know or the students who are comfortable approaching SGA. As a first-generation student who came to UD from out of state, I know how overwhelming it can be to navigate an unfamiliar university and figure out where to turn when you need something. I want to intentionally hear from students across different organizations, majors, residence halls, backgrounds, and levels of campus involvement so that the concerns I bring to SGA actually reflect the Class of 2029 as a whole. Advocate: Advocacy has always been at the heart of why I pursue leadership and service. Through my experiences at UD, I have seen how differently students can experience the same campus depending on their circumstances, resources, and support systems. I want to advocate for academic and financial accessibility, disability inclusion, student well-being, and making sure students know about and can actually access the resources available to them. Most importantly, I want my classmates to know that they do not have to navigate a concern alone. If I do not have the answer, I will help find the person who does, bring concerns to the people who need to hear them, and make sure student voices remain part of the conversation. Act: During my freshman year, I learned that listening is only the beginning of representation. Through initiatives such as “Know Before You Need It,†which focused on making important campus safety and medical-amnesty information easier for students to access before they were in an emergency, I saw how student concerns can become practical action. I want to continue identifying gaps in communication and accessibility at UD, bringing those concerns to the appropriate administrators and campus partners, and following up with students about what happens afterward. Ultimately, I want to make our sophomore year a year where the Class of 2029 feels more connected to the university and more confident using its voice. Whether we have known each other since freshman move-in or have never met, I want you to know that you have a representative who will listen to you, help you find the right resources, bring your concerns to the table, and continue advocating for you when you are not in the room.
My most important experience preparing me for this role has been serving as our elected First-Year Class Representative last school year. Over the past year, I have gained firsthand experience listening to student concerns, working alongside other senators, communicating with university leadership, and helping develop initiatives intended to make a real difference in students’ experiences here at UD. Most importantly, this role has taught me that representing a class means being willing to listen to perspectives beyond my own and consistently showing up for the people who trusted me to represent them. My involvement in service and leadership across UD has continued to shape the kind of representative I want to be. As Participant Relations Chair on the UD Miracle Executive Board and a member of the Best Buddies Events Committee, I am gaining experience building inclusive communities, planning events, working collaboratively, and forming relationships with people whose experiences may be different from my own. Through Dayton Civic Scholars, I am continuing to develop my understanding of civic engagement, service, leadership, and the responsibility we have to the communities around us. My research experiences through the FYRE program this semester are also strengthening my approach to advocacy and helping me become a more well rounded, responsible, and dependable leader and student. These experiences build on four years of student government before UD, including serving as Senior Class President. Together, they have taught me that leadership is not about having the loudest voice in the room. It is about listening carefully, earning people’s trust, and using the opportunities you are given to make sure other people are heard. That is the kind of leadership I hope to continue bringing to the Class of 2029.

I am so grateful for the University of Dayton for giving me lifelong friends, a place to call "home", and an invaluable education. Being a member of the Student Government Association is a goal of mine because I want to make Dayton an even better place for students.
My main goal is to increase the overall well-being of the students of the University of Dayton. I also aim to improve communication between the SGA and the student body.
My volunteer work in my community has taught me how to communicate with people of different ages and backgrounds, listen to their needs, and be more empathetic and understanding.

I'm Neal, and I am running for SGA because I want to be a genuine voice for students and help make sure their concerns are heard. As students, we invest a significant amount of time and money into the University of Dayton, and we deserve to have a meaningful say in the decisions that affect our education and daily lives. I am a political science major and a native of the city of Dayton, and I care deeply about both this university and the community that surrounds it. I have an interest in pursuing government and public service, and I see SGA as an opportunity to begin putting those values into practice. I believe student government should be more than a résumé builder or a symbolic position. It should be a meaningful institution where students can raise concerns, ask difficult questions, propose new ideas, and hold the university accountable to the people it serves. As a sophomore representative, I would work to bring students' concerns directly to the people who can address them and make sure that student perspectives are part of the conversation.
My platform is centered on four priorities: housing and residence life, parking, dining services, and most importantly your voice. Housing: Housing should be easier to navigate, and students should have more agency over where they live. Given the cost of attending the University of Dayton, students deserve a housing process that is clear, accessible, and responsive to their needs. Parking: Parking should not be the constant problem it is for students. Dayton is a car-dependent city, and students who need a vehicle on campus should not feel as though they are being unnecessarily penalized for having one. I want to advocate for practical improvements to parking availability, affordability, and communication. Dining: Students deserve more variety and flexibility in their dining options. I would advocate for expanded choices, including more buffet-style dining options, so students have greater control over what and how they eat on campus. Your Voice: SGA should know what students want before it decides what students need. I would establish an ongoing system of student surveys, digital feedback, and other accessible ways for students to voice their concerns throughout the year. This would allow SGA to identify the issues affecting students most and make those concerns the basis for its advocacy. My goal is simple: make SGA a true representative institution for UD students.
UD College Democrats Treasurer & Communications Director In these roles, I have gained firsthand experience managing organizational responsibilities, communicating with members, and helping lead a student organization. These positions have taught me how to be accountable, organized, and effective while working with a team. Model United Nations Under-Secretary, High School Conference As an Under-Secretary for UD's annual Model United Nations High School Conference, I help coordinate and execute a large student-run conference hosted on campus. This experience has strengthened my ability to work under pressure, communicate effectively, and make sure that complex projects actually get done. High School Student Government President & Senior Class Secretary Before coming to UD, I served in student government as Student Government President and Senior Class Secretary. These experiences gave me an early understanding of what it means to represent a student body, listen to my peers, and turn ideas into action. Across each of these roles, I have developed a strong work ethic and a commitment to effective leadership. I know what it means to take responsibility, follow through, and represent other people.
Model United Nations: I am an active member of UD Model United Nations, representing the university at conferences including NMUN in New York, a nationally and globally recognized conference. Model UN has challenged me to become a better public speaker, step outside my comfort zone, and engage respectfully with people from different backgrounds and perspectives. UD College Democrats: I am also active in UD College Democrats, where I have continued to develop my interest in politics, civic engagement, and public service. McIntosh Scholar City of Dayton: As a McIntosh Scholar, I receive a full academic scholarship along with an internship with the City of Dayton. I have worked in the Prosecutor's Office and will be transitioning into community engagement, where I hope to continue learning how to understand residents' concerns, identify problems, and work toward practical solutions. Human Rights Center: I also work as a student researcher with UD's Human Rights Center, where I have studied the application of human rights principles to issues within the United States. This experience has strengthened my ability to research complex issues and consider them from multiple perspectives. Together, these experiences have shaped how I want to serve in SGA: by listening to people's concerns, understanding different perspectives, building consensus around practical solutions, and working to improve the quality of student life and academic opportunities at the University of Dayton.
I have always been involved in and wanted the best for my community, SGA will give me a chance to get involved in conversions that will help the student body and university as a whole. I am interested in not only helping the present, but the future of the university and it's current and future students.
I want to help open dialogue between students, facility and administration regarding concerns students may have with inclusivity and saftey, I want to be an advocate for students who feel like their voices do not matter or are not heard.
I was vice president of International Thespian Society troupe 1049, where I helped organize group bonding activities for the cast of the musical and play, I made decisions regarding marketing shows, as well as mediating problems between cast members and bringing concerns of cast members to the director. I volunteered my time to fund raisers, prom dress sells, tutoring children, working at non profit parks and working at carnivals and festivals for my local community.
I am involved in the Women's Center, Studio Theater, and YDSA.
