October Announcements

Hello Flyers!

Happy October! I hope everyone had a fantastic family weekend. I have a few announcements about upcoming events and changes in practice times.

PRACTICE ANNOUNCEMENTS

First, practices will resume this week. We will continue to practice on Thursdays, but starting this week practices will be 5:30-7:30. We are starting to run out of daylight quickly, so be prepared for practice to move forward again later in the year. Please RSVP for practices on 1850 so we have an idea of how many people are planning on coming.

MYSTERY FLYER CHALLENGE

Now for the more exciting news... we are only 1 WEEK AWAY from our first club event of the year!!! Flyer Disc Golf is extremely excited to present the Mystery Flyer Challenge at Belmont Park! This event will take place this Saturday, October 7th. The Mystery Flyer Challenge will be played with 3 random discs that will be provided to you at check-in. You will receive 1 driver, 1 midrange, and 1 putter. The event will have 2 divisions (ADV and REC) and is FREE for all club members! There will be a few optional things that you will be able to buy into at check-in. We will offer a $5 ace pot buy-in, a $2 CTP buy-in, and a $3 super-CTP buy-in. 100% of all money will either go towards payout or buying prizes. If an ace is hit, the winner will receive the whole ace pot! If no ace is hit, we will throw off on hole 1 following the round. We will have prizes for the CTP and Super CTP winners, as well as for the winner of each division.

Check-in for the event will be from 9:00-9:30 near hole 1. We will have a quick players meeting at 9:30 and will begin the round at around 9:45. More information on the event can be found on our Google Calendar. If you have not added it yet, you can join using this LINK. To participate, YOU MUST REGISTER ON 1850! We will only make player packs for the players who signed up and will not bring extras. The 1850 event can be found at the bottom of this email.

TRICKS AND TREATS DOUBLES (new date)

Another event we will be hosting is the Halloween-themed Tricks and Treats Doubles event! In the original announcement, the date for this event was set as October 29th. There is a conflict on this date, so the event will now be taking place on NOVEMBER 4TH. Tricks and Treats Doubles will be a random draw doubles event (we will draw cards to decide partners) with a twist! Each hole will be assigned a "trick" or a "treat". For example, on one hole you may have to putt with your eyes closed (trick), while on another hole you may get a free mulligan on your drive (treat)!

Registration for this event will be $5 for all club members. We will have prizes for CTPs and Long Drives on a few holes! The entry fees will be used to buy prizes for these as well as prizes for the winning team! There is also an optional $2 for 3 mulligans that can be used throughout the round. We will provide lunch after the round and may request that you chip in a little bit for food if you plan on eating (we may be able to use entry fees to help buy food as well). After lunch, we will play a few putting games to end the afternoon. We will have some small prizes for the winners of these games.

We ask that all club members register for the event on 1850, but we will allow sign-ups on the morning of the event. This event is open to everyone, so please invite friends and spread the word! The entry fee will be $10 for all non-club members. 1850 registration can be found at the bottom of this email.

Sign-ups and check-in will be from 9:30-9:55 am. We will draw for partners at 9:55 and start the round around 10. Lunch will be tentatively planned for 1:00 pm with games starting after everyone has had a chance to eat. More information can be found on our Google Calendar. This is sure to be a fun day!

P.S. This is a Halloween-themed event so it is encouraged to wear a costume. It may help out with one of the "Trick" holes ;)

GREAT LAKES COLLEGIATE OPEN

The College Disc Golf team is planning on participating in the Great Lakes Collegiate Open regional qualifier event as our first CDG event of the year! The event is October 28-29 in Lansing, Michigan, and has 3 bids to the College Disc Golf National Championships in April! If you are interested in playing competitively and would like to play in this event, please let me know! We can register multiple teams for the event and would like to give everyone an opportunity to play if they are interested. If you are interested, please let me know by the end of the week.

September Recap

Thank you to everyone who has been coming to practices throughout the start of the year! We love seeing you all enjoying our local courses.

Tournament-wise, September saw the season winding down for many of our players. The Flyers had a large presence at the 23rd Annual Wright Brother's Open. Ryan Almassy, Andrew Watt, Tyler Silliman, and Luke Radloff all battled hard all weekend. Congratulations to Luke for his top-5 finish. Tyler and Andrew were also in action at the Buckeye Classic, both putting in strong performances.

Way to represent the club well fellas!
.

Keep on discing!
