From: Global & Intercultural Affairs Center Date: January 25, 2021 Subject: News for International Flyers: Student Spotlight, What To Do If You're Sick, Career Fair
First_Name, the International Flyer is a weekly newsletter from International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS).
INTERNATIONAL STUDENT SPOTLIGHTS
ISSS will "spotlight" at least one student each semester in our International Flyer Newsletter (sent to all international students) and in our Campus Partner Newsletter (sent to faculty and staff). To "spotlight" means to introduce someone and highlight their background, journey, and/or achievements.
Use the form below to nominate a student to be "spotlighted". If selected, ISSS will follow up with the nominated student to conduct an interview. Spotlighted students will be featured in upcoming newsletters.
You can nominate yourself or someone else. To be eligible, the nominated student must:
be a currently enrolled international student at UD
be in good academic standing (undergraduate GPA > 2.0, graduate GPA > 3.0)
Several new virtual and COVID-appropriate in-person activities for students are on tap for the spring semester, including an ice skating rink, basketball watch parties, simulated game shows "Flyer Feud" and Jeopardy!, and the addition of pickleball, spikeball, human curling and broomball to the intramural sports lineup. Many familiar activities from fall semester also return, including those at RecPlex and Old River Park and, in some cases, free food.
Plan ahead with the Division of Student Development's comprehensive website of events. Updates will be highlighted there, Wednesday Student News Digests and on social media.
NOT FEELING WELL?
Located in Gosiger Hall, the Health Center's hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Appointments are required and must be scheduled by the student. To schedule an appointment, call 937-229-3131.
If you are experiencing symptoms of coronavirus, please first call the Health Center to receive guidance on next steps
Students can also seek medical consultations at Premier After Hours, now located at the east end of Marianist Hall in the former Day Air Credit Union site. Hours are 5-9 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekends.
Like the Student Health Center, Premier After Hours can evaluate students with minor illnesses and injuries. Students quarantining on campus can be tested for COVID-19 at either the Student Health Center (call 937-229-3131 to make an appointment) or at Premier After Hours starting Jan. 19 (make an appointment here).
If you test positive for COVID-19...
You should report on the University’s “COVID-19 Health Reporting page”. Click on the red button at the top of the health center webpage go.udayton.edu/healthcenter
You must abide by CDC guidelines, including self-isolation and should contact their health care provider or the UD Student Health Center to discuss self-care recommendations.
Expect to be contacted by Public Health and UD, which will trace students' contacts to identify people they’ve been in contact with so they can take precautions, including self-quarantine.
