LEAD with Mary: A Faith-Filled Immigration Experience

At the beginning of the summer, I had the privilege of traveling to Texas with UD’s Campus Ministry. Alongside fellow students from Marianist schools like Chaminade University of Honolulu and St. Mary’s University of San Antonio, we engaged in service work for migrants in the area. This trip to San Antonio and the Rio Grande Valley proved to be a truly transformational experience.

As a political science major, I had previously analyzed immigration through a political and economic lens. However, this experience wildly shifted my perspective. I witnessed the human faces behind the numbers—families seeking safety, children excited for a better future, and individuals navigating a complex system. These encounters made me realize that immigration is not just a policy issue but a deeply human one, filled with hope, struggle, and survival. This experience challenged my academic understanding and reminded me that behind every policy decision are real people with real lives.

This experience not only challenged my academic understanding but also deepened my faith. It reminded me that behind every policy decision are children of God, each with their own story of hope, struggle, and resilience. The trip inspired me to approach immigration with both a scholarly mind and a compassionate heart, guided by the idea that we are called to love and support our neighbors, see the dignity and worth of every person as part of God's creation.

Group 1: Wednesdays from 12:15-1:15pm
Group 2: Thursdays from 12:30-1:30pm
Group 3: Mondays from 4:30-5:30pm.

Our liturgical community depends on student support in liturgical ministries!

Help to enliven our Masses on campus by serving as a Lector, Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, Altar Server, or Mass Coordinator. We will be offering trainings for these ministries on the following dates:

EM and Lector Training: August 25 at 1pm, August 27 at 7pm, September 5 at 6:30pm and by appointment

Server Training: September 8 at 1pm and by appointment

Mass Coordinators: by appointment with Jess

Training on campus is only required one time for the duration of your time at UD, but you are always welcome to return for a refresher course if you have already been trained in a previous year here!

Pray with us!
 

Compline is the Night Prayer in the Liturgy of Hours for the Church!


We invite you to join us on Thursdays at 9:15pm in the Marianist Hall Chapel for this simple, reflective prayer experience that focuses on Scripture and an examination of conscience to conclude your day.

We will rotate between chanting and reciting the prayers over several weeks and encourage students to lead the prayers in the ways that they are comfortable.

Join Campus Ministry as we begin a new chapter in the UD neighborhood!

Starting this semester we are forming Small Faith Groups to discuss a variety of diverse topics. Our goal is to grow together and learn from one another, this will be done in part through guest speakers, open discussions, and prayer. NO topic is off limits! Help be the first to build this community!"

Interdenominational and Multifaith Ministry 

Muslim Prayer Room

A fully functioning prayer room with Quran, Wudu area, and Women's area is in the Rike Center 205 and 207. Use your University of Dayton ID to have access to the Muslim Prayer room, seven days a week, 6:30am – 8:30pm.  Enter using the main entrance with the ramp, across from Heritage Coffee.  When the Rike Center offices are closed, this is the only door that will be available for key card entry. 

Jummah

On Fridays at 1:30 pm students meet in the Rike Center, Rooms 205 (men) and 207 (women) for Jummah prayer.
