Finding Passion and Hope While Celebrating Diversity

Black History is worth more than just one month and should be celebrated throughout the year because there is no American history without Black history. In this reflection, I highlight the value of immersing yourself in diverse cultures and learning more about the identities that are hidden by eurocentric education systems. I hope that by reading this blog, you are able to find hope not only by acknowledging Black history, but praising it, emphasizing it, and integrating it into every aspect of life and educational curricula. MPC Green Book 

During the Segregation Era, the Green Book was a travel guide to identify businesses that would accept African American customers. It listed a variety of businesses from restaurants and hotels to beauty salons and stores. Jada Gee is leading an ongoing project to identify businesses in Dayton that are POC-owned. If you know a business, please contact Jada Gee (geej02@udayton.edu). We want to continue to support POC business owners!

The Co-Pilots are a peer group that helps students take the first step in discussing their wellbeing goals in a comforting environment. Through dialogue and one-on-one connection, the Co-Pilots are here to normalize talking about feelings, assist in breaking down stigmas, help students with personal developments and promote a healthy lifestyle for all members of the University of Dayton community.

Muslim Rights Series 

Sama, Kaitlin, and Baara are all working together in a MPC and SGA Campus Unity collaboration to bring awareness to the Muslim community. We are looking for members who practice Islam to talk about their experiences and be apart of a promo video.
