About Us
The mission of DIIC is to provide two things 1) a needed experiential learning club for those interested in international investing; 2) an opportunity for students to learn about investments with fewer requirements to join than other respective investment clubs on campus. Day-to-Day We will meet once/twice a week for one hour to discuss running a “paper trading” (fake money) investment fund with members. This will involve buying individual companies stock from countries that are not the United States. Members will vote on which companies to include or exclude from our paper trading portfolio four times each semester. Each analyst will write a stock memo for the whole club at least once a semester. Any investment with a vote of 2/3rds will pass. Another vote after that will be cast to determine portfolio weighting. At the end of each semester, dividends and any excess cash will be voted on where to invest by once again a 2/3rds vote. Along with the stock investment portfolio, we plan to have a theoretical “currency hedging” strategy (protecting our stocks against currency fluctuations) which will also be discussed in meetings. Having potential guest speakers would also be in the cards to help students build connections and learn from those with heavy experience.
